Right.  If you look more carefully, you will notice that this is an
excerpt from a book.  To see the rest of the book you would need to
buy it (or, preferably, the newer edition, "The Design and Implementation of
the FreeBSD Operating System").

Definitely start by reading "man signal" if you haven't already.
There is also some material in the Developer's Handbook that you
should look at before purchasing printed books.
