I use Windowmaker.  Two reasons: it starts up real fast, and it has
handy graphical config utils

Here is a list of all that use a GUI for:

1. Netscape
2. Xmms
3. Nedit for FORTRAN and Python
4. Idle for Python
5. Pan for newsgroups
6. Xosview, I like to see what the cpu is up to :)
7. and of course Xterm, since this is a Sony laptop and I can only get
VESA sized console
