I don't think that holes in patch-xx numbering scheme will looks better. Moreover, imagine you have 100 patch-xx files and 30 patch-xx already removed. Where you suppose to write/remember all actual names patched for removed files? Do you plan to check all 30 removed files in CVS attic before making every next patch-xx? -- Andrey A.
