I don't know if this is related, but:
* I don't see my laptop's miniPCI wi0 NIC with CURRENT from yesterday
or today.
* There's another thread on -current ("ifconfig stopped loading driver").
A couple more things about what I'm seeing:
* My built-in wired NIC (xl0) is fine.
* If I try PC cards, they report "Card has no functions!" and "PC
Card card activation failed".
I'm presently running:
h252(7.0-C)[1] uname -a
FreeBSD h252.dhw.mail-abuse.org. 7.0-CURRENT FreeBSD 7.0-CURRENT #363: Thu =

I keep a private mirror of the FreeBSD CVS repository handy; it was updated:

I tend to build CURRENT starting around 0700 hrs. local time; yesterday,
I had some challenges (which is why the ad-hoc updates occurred).
I first noticed the problem(s) I'm describing yesterday afternoon,
following a successful build after the update that ended at 13:02:59.
Here are the messages recorded in /var/log/messages after I inserted
a wi(4) PC card:
Mar 22 10:21:18 localhost kernel: pcib2: pccard1 requested memory range 0xf=
4000000-0xfbffffff: good
Mar 22 10:21:18 localhost kernel: cbb1: set_res_flags: specified resource n=
ot active
Mar 22 10:21:18 localhost kernel: CIS is too long -- truncating
Mar 22 10:21:18 localhost kernel: cbb1: set_res_flags: specified resource n=
ot active
Mar 22 10:21:18 localhost kernel: pccard1: Card has no functions!
Mar 22 10:21:18 localhost kernel: cbb1: PC Card card activation failed
and ejecting it:
Mar 22 10:21:28 localhost kernel: cbb1: Danger Will Robinson: Resource left=
allocated! This is a bug... (rid=3D0, type=3D3, addr=3Dfa020000)
Then inserting an an(4) PC card:
Mar 22 10:21:48 localhost kernel: pcib2: pccard1 requested memory range 0xf=
4000000-0xfbffffff: good
Mar 22 10:21:48 localhost kernel: cbb1: set_res_flags: specified resource n=
ot active
Mar 22 10:21:48 localhost kernel: CIS is too long -- truncating
Mar 22 10:21:48 localhost kernel: cbb1: set_res_flags: specified resource n=
ot active
Mar 22 10:21:48 localhost kernel: pccard1: Card has no functions!
Mar 22 10:21:48 localhost kernel: cbb1: PC Card card activation failed
and ejecting it:
Mar 22 10:29:36 localhost kernel: cbb1: Danger Will Robinson: Resource left=
allocated! This is a bug... (rid=3D0, type=3D3, addr=3Dfa030000)
I need to switch back over to STABLE (I use my laptop while I'm at
work, to get work done), but I should be able to check on other
things as time permits. I've saved away my CURRENT dmesg.boot, so
I can send that to interested folks; I'd rather not spam the list
more than I have.
Peace,
david
