After enabling ACPI in my kernel I get these messages in dmesg:
---snip---
VESA: v2.0, 2496k memory, flags:0x0, mode table:0xc03b82e2 (1000022)
VESA: MagicGraph 256 AV 44K PRELIMINARY

ACPI-0202: *** Error: AcpiLoadTables: Could not load tables:

ACPI: table load failed: AE_BAD_SIGNATURE
Using $PIR table, 6 entries at 0xc00f0f80
apm0: <APM BIOS> on motherboard
apm0: found APM BIOS v1.2, connected at v1.2
---snip---
(Of course the VESA and apm messages were there before...)
I have a Toshiba Tecra8000 as hardware and acpidump gives me:
---snip---
RSD PTR: Checksum=18, OEMID=TOSHIB, RsdtAddress=0x07ff0000
acpidump: RSDT is corrupted
---snip---
Drop me a line if you want me to dig deeper at stuff.
