We're running FreeBSD3.0-Stable with CCD and softupdates on two systems,
each with two 9gb cheetah drives striped, with no problems:

Machine1:
/dev/ccd0c on /data (local, soft-updates, writes: sync 8069 async 1135034)
/dev/ccd0c   17213895  3718658 12118126    23%    /data

Machine2:
/dev/ccd0c on /data (local, soft-updates, writes: sync 130287 async 1420107)
/dev/ccd0c   16705735  3433094 11936183    22%    /data
