https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=254199 Bug ID: 254199 Summary: dmesg complains "Cannot 'start' webcamd. Set webcamd_enable to YES in /etc/rc.conf or use 'onestart' instead of 'start'." Product: Base System Version: 12.2-STABLE Hardware: Any OS: Any Status: New Severity: Affects Many People Priority: --- Component: misc Assignee: bugs@FreeBSD.org Reporter: Steven.E.Friedrich@Gmail.com I believe this belongs to devd. I believe this anomaly is described in /usr/src/UPDATING 20180211: devmatch functionality has been turned on in devd. It will automatically load drivers for unattached devices. This may cause unexpected drivers to be loaded. Please report any problems to current@ and imp@freebsd.org. I have sent it to current@ and imp# This appears in dmesg if Netgear A6100 plugged in at boot Starting devd. Cannot 'start' webcamd. Set webcamd_enable to YES in /etc/rc.conf or use 'onestart' instead of 'start'. I don't HAVE or want a webcam. This is an anomaly. The webcam port is present because I installed KDE. But I have no use for it. Here's the device as reported by lsusb Bus /dev/usb Device /dev/ugen0.5: ID 0846:9052 NetGear, Inc.
