All of these were found on FreeBSD 4.1 (Intel): /etc/apmd.conf # apmd Configration File ^^^^^^^^^^^^ # apmd Configration ends here ^^^^^^^^^^^^ Configuration /etc/mtree/* Each of these files refers to a README file, but no README is available in the directory. There _is_ a README in the src directory, /usr/src/etc/mtree. hier(7) There is no entry for /compat. The Complete FreeBSD (Greg Lehey, 3rd ed., pp. 230-231) says: "A directory containing code for emulated systems, such as Linux." Some might quibble, however, with the term "emulated". Besides, /compat is now a symlink to /usr/compat. There is no entry for /cdrom. TCF says: "A mount point for CD-ROM drives." There is no entry for /dist. Is this a mount point for distributions? "kerberosIV/ configuration files for the kerberos version IV;" ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ version IV of Kerberos;" "mail/ spam-filtering information" ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Sendmail control files hosts.equiv(5) "hosts.equiv, .rhosts - trusted remote host name and user data base" ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ and user name named(8) soon as it is finshed processing command line arguments. ^^^^^^^ finished The FILES section says that /etc/named.conf is the "default name server configuration file". The file has been moved to /etc/namedb. overriden on a per-zone basis by includinga transfer-source ^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^ overridden including a ndc(8) The BUGS sections says that ndc is "Implemented as a sh(1) script". Aside from the question of whether this would be a bug at all, the command is, in fact, a binary executable. whatis(1) When I run whatis(1) on inetd.conf, it says: "inetd.conf(5), inetd(5) - internet super-server" ^ 8 -- -- Rich Morin: rdm@cfcl.com, +1 650-873-7841, http://www.cfcl.com/rdm Prime Time Freeware: info@ptf.com, +1 408-433-9662, http://www.ptf.com MacPerl: http://www.macperl.com, http://www.ptf.com/ptf/products/MPPE MkLinux: http://www.mklinux.org, http://www.ptf.com/ptf/products/MKLP To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-doc" in the body of the message
