Try editing your /etc/rc.conf file and add these lines if they aren't
allready there
network_interfaces="xl0 xl1"  #(or whatever your interface identifers are)
ifconfig_xl0="inet 192.168.1.16 netmask 255.255.255.0" #Again, whatever your
netmask should be
ifconfig_xl1="inet 192.168.1.2 netmask 255.255.255.0"   #Whatever your
second ip addy
