You are using the port, right? (Stock jade needs patches to work
with the latest gcc.)
In the past, when jade dumps core, forcing jade to build w/archive
libraries has fixed things. Ugly, but true. I think this is some
subtle bug (or some subtle C++ portability issue) with jade and shared
libraries, as this problem seems to appear on multiple platforms (x86,
Solaris, & HP-UX).
[ Just FYI, jade built from the port on a Dec. 2 -current works fine,
even with shared libraries. ]
