I agree, the colors need more tweaking.

Breadcrumbs could probably be part of an upcoming "real" redesign. But 
for technical reasons they can't be part of a "biggest bang for the 
buck" kind of face-lifting on the minimalist scope that I was 
suggesting with those screenshots.
