What am I missing? You have to do all of them. With my Intel SS4200 NAS boxen (which are headless), I do the following: ----8<---- Set the serial port to 115200 in the bios and disable console redirection after boot. Add to /boot.config to set boot block serial speed: -h -S115200 Add to loader.conf to set /loader serial speed: console="comconsole" conconsole_speed="115200" Edit /etc/ttys to set serial login speed: ttyu0 "/usr/libexec/getty std.115200" vt100 on secure ----8<---- This is sufficient to completely replace the emulated VGA with native serial output across all phases of the boot sequence, from the boot block through /loader, kernel and startup messages, all the way to login. Some changes may be necessary if you intend to use a serial port other than 0, or if you wish to have both serial and VGA consoles available. -- Fuzzy love, -CyberLeo Technical Administrator CyberLeo.Net Webhosting http://www.CyberLeo.Net <CyberLeo@CyberLeo.Net> Furry Peace! - http://wwww.fur.com/peace/
