I have the same soundcard I believe..

You loaded the driver??

I built mine into the kernal:

[vic@yeaguy ~]$ grep -i hda /usr/src/sys/i386/conf/HBCA
device          snd_hda


[vic@yeaguy ~]$ cat /var/run/dmesg.boot | grep hd

pcm1: <HDA Sigmatel STAC9227X PCM #1 Digital> at cad 2 nid 1 on hdac0


Did you try playing with the MIXER??

i use rexima .. console based mixer, easy to use.
