Hmmm... that doesn't seem to cover it. I can't find anything that
defines whether you should use 127/8 or just 127.0.0.1.
The include/in.h for Linux 2.4 seems to do both, in a way:

/* Address to loopback in software to local host. */
#define INADDR_LOOPBACK 0x7f000001 /* 127.0.0.1 */
