FreeBSD 12.1 install was a pretty straightforward from a USB stick,=20
though as I recall the G5s are fussy about USB sticks, e.g. they don't=20
recognize U3 flash drives.=C2=A0 Install from CD should work as well.

Then "pkg install desktop-installer" and "desktop-installer" to set up=20
the GUI.

Lumina desktop works well on these systems.=C2=A0 It's probably the faste=
st=20
full-blown DE.=C2=A0 LXDE was really sluggish on my iMac for some reason.=


Some runaway fan issues on the PowerMac that are reportedly avoided by=20
disabling SMP.
