Can anyone suggest a network monitoring utility along the lines of ntop
that is properly sorted out. In theory at least, ntop should be a good thing,
unfortunately its doesn't appear to be sufficiently debugged to be usable.

Apparently the port for ntop is a geriatric one that is reported to have major
problems with resource usage, & the later versions are only alpha style things
best left to ardent hackers.

I did download mrtg & attempted to configure it but I couldn't get anywhere with the configuration instructions. From what examples I've seen, the html interface / information provided by mrtg is inferior to that of ntop anyway ... at least for my
purposes.
