It probably won't be too long, because at least one very clueful individual is working on the problem. In the meantime, though, either compile ports with CXX=/usr/local/bin/g++31 or use a stable, end-user oriented version of FreeBSD (like 4.6-SOMETHING). Ciao, Sheldon.
