So with all due respect to you, your company and your cow orkers,
you shouldn't have been given this responsibility.

Then we were the only ones who were honest with you.

We're not a company. We're a group of volunteers. As such, we
expect a certain level of "do-it-yourself-ness" from people. I'm sure that
in your world what you did would count as "initiative." Some people
involved in FreeBSD might agree with you. I don't, and I'm not going to
change my mind, so instead of putting more energy into defending your
actions, try putting some into understanding the answers you've already
been given. :)
Crotchity volunteer,
Doug
