Oh, I forgot to mention:
Installed in the VMs harddisk is 9.1-RELASE (the one who gave me all the 
error messages).

In the VMs optical drive is an iso of 9.1-STABLE, but that won't even 
boot the kernel - doesn't get past the loader.
