Because it's a bad hack... well, all those drives actually are, to be honest. However, i'm in the opinion that no working driver should be removed between 3.0 and the 3.0.1 branch point, since it's contradictionary to the `minor version number bump'. I'm not sure whether my opinion will find a majority on _this_ one (ft, namely), however. Whether now or later, ft will die some day. (pcvt will, too, but most likely only after a replacement is available for a good VTxxx emulation.) The fd driver is overdue for a rewrite as well, but i haven't found the time and energy so far (and apparently nobody else). If it wasn't now, this rewrite would have been the deadline for ft(4) anyway. -- cheers, J"org joerg_wunsch@uriah.heep.sax.de -- http://www.sax.de/~joerg/ -- NIC: JW11-RIPE Never trust an operating system you don't have sources for. ;-) To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-current" in the body of the message
