Oh, but why?  I use it with one of my external HDD boxen and it works fine.
While we rarely see 1394 ports these days on the new computers, adapters
are inexpensive and easily available on the market.  There are people with
various camcorders which support video capture over 1934 and I remember
debugging over it was fast and easy to set up with the dcons(4) driver.

So, might be reconsider this?   If there are some outstanding issues with
it like Giant usage, I'll try to come up with some patches (allow for some
time as I'm not a seasoned kernel hacker).  Thanks,
