Hi Rob,

I experience similar problems with my two G5 Quads, they thermal
shutdown after a short time under heavy load, and the fans and LCS
spun up to loudest.  It's likely aging hardware, you might want to run
the Apple diagnostics, or perform a load test with OS X, that might
point you to any hardware failures.
