Hi folks,

I got permission from Jordan to merge the gawk-3.0.6 upgrade to STABLE.
The upgrade solves a number of problems (some even reported as PR's).

However, I drastically over-estimated my free time, and it doesn't look
like I'm going to get time to test this myself. I am _not_ prepared to
be the only guy to break world during release candidate phase. :-)

If any kind soul out there would be willing to run the (huge) patch
through a make world, mergemaster and boot (possibly even a few port
installs), I'd be _very_ grateful. :-)

The patch can be collected at:

	http://people.freebsd.org/~sheldonh/awk_upgrade.patch.gz

Alternatively, you can derive and apply the patch yourself as follows:

	# To derive:
	cd /usr/src/contrib/awk
	cvs update -dPA
cvs diff -udRN -rRELENG_4 -rHEAD >~/awk_upgrade.patch
	cvs udpate -dPA -rRELENG_4

	# To apply:
	patch <~/awk_upgrade.patch

No need to bug this already noisy list with your feedback. You can just
mail me directly.

Thanks in advance,
Sheldon.
