https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=291962 Bug ID: 291962 Summary: plasmashell crashes possibly due to powerdevil conflict with newer kernels Product: Base System Version: 15.0-RELEASE Hardware: amd64 OS: Any Status: New Severity: Affects Some People Priority: --- Component: kern Assignee: bugs@FreeBSD.org Reporter: storm16@gmail.com Please note that there is an ongoing discussion on the forums, https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/plasmashell-crashes.100771/#post-734321https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/plasmashell-crashes.100771. I am not a developer, let alone a kernel dev, so I am grasping at straws here. Basically, as the thread says, everything works perfectly on my desktop with an nvidia gpu, however, on my Lenovo laptop, where I am running Intel graphics, KDE will lock up, when the screen blanks or at least when the laptop is not in use, no focus on any window, and only restarting sddm or slim will reset everything. Note that things worked fine in 14.2R, but when I upgraded to 14.3, the problem began to occur, and it has persisted across upgrades to 15.0R and 15.0p1... One responder said that he read that its the handshake between the FreeBSD 14.3 and 15.0 kernel and KDE power saving that gets hung. I'm hoping the kernel devs might be able to take a look at this and/or transfer it over to the Plasma devs/porters. The thread above covers all of the things we have tried.
