I thought the whole point of continuing to load modules from /modules in 5.x was to give host adminsitrators a sensible place to put 3rd party modules, so that they wouldn't be blown away by the installkernel and reinstallkernel targets. I understand why you want /modules to go away, but the onus is on you to replace it with something, because it had a purpose. So, what are you offering in its place? :-) Ciao, Sheldon.
