Integrated ATI Rage Pro. |Description: | |After installing the system I installed the port XFree86: | |XFree86-4.1.0_12,1 X11R6.5/XFree86 core distribution (complete) |XFree86-Server-4.1.0_4 XFree86-4 X server and related programs |XFree86-clients-4.1.0_2 XFree86-4 Client environments |XFree86-font100dpi-4.1.0 XFree86-4 bitmap 100 dpi fonts |XFree86-fontEncodings-4.1.0 XFree86-4 font encoding files |XFree86-fontScalable-4.1.0 XFree86-4 Scalable font files |XFree86-libraries-4.1.0_1 XFree86-4 include/(shared) library kit | |Trying to configure it with xf86cfg opens the XWindow system, starts the |application and after few seconds it suddenly crashes, without moving |anything. | |Checked also in another computer with the same result. | |J. | ------------------------------ FWIW. I've tried installing this on an AlphaServer 800 using 4-Release ( Generic kernel ). Compile and install give no problems. When running xf86cfg it crashes it as well, all the way down to SRM. I can run the shell based config, but then the same crash down to SRM happens when I run startx. The only recourse is power down and restart or boot dka0. The system does not apparently have time to write any errors or core dump. Upon a restart/reboot the system does not even bother to fsck the disks, which I find odd as well. I'm still having issues with XFree86 3.3.6 and xdm, but that's another issue altogether...
