It occurred to me after I sent this that I have missed the whole point. I have to ask myself why is all this mail stuck in the queue. I assume that at this point you have cd'd to /var and done something like du -k > some.file and looked at some.file to see which ones are giving you the problem. You still should be able to out link the offending directory.
