Is APM enabled in your BIOS-SETUP ?

What kind of machine ?

Add these options to your kernel:
	options         "CLK_USE_I8254_CALIBRATION"
	options         CLK_USE_TSC_CALIBRATION
and send me email with dmesg from a "boot -v"
