Well, I am suprised that resizing the window made no difference because I didn't think X4 supported the Xv extension with TNT2 cards.. I run X3.3.6 on a PII350 and a TNT2 card and it is worse than real time (by a large fairly large margin I think) I suspect that if I had a system which supported the Xv extension and could get the video card to do YUV -> RGB it would play in real time. (eg under Windows I can play the same animation in real time).
