I have run into some question running FreeBSD. I am running FreeBSD 4.1.1 on a Tyan board what has ServerWorks ServerSet III HE-SL chipset. I am not sure if FreeBSD 4.1.1 recognize ServerSet III HE-SL chipset. Followings are the messages regarding PCI bud on the boot up. <-----------------------------------------------> pcib0 : <RCC host to PCI bridge> on motherboard. pci0 : <PCI bus> on pcib0 pcib4 : <PCI to PCI bridge (vendor=1166, device=0009)> at device 0.1 on pci0 pci1 : <PCI bus> on pcib4 pci1 : <S3 Trio3D/2X graphics accelarator> at 0.0 pci0 : <unknown card> <vendor=0x1274, dev=0x1371) at 2.0 irq 2 isab0 : <PCI to ISA bridge (vendor=1166, device=0200)> at device 15.0 on pci0 isa0 : <ISA bus> on isab0 . . . pcib1 : <RCC LE host to PCI bridge> on motherboard pci2 : <PCI bus> on pcib1 tio0 : <3Com 3c985-SX Gigabit Ethernet> mem 0xfebfc00-0xfebfffff irq 9 at device 2.0 on pci2 tio0 : Ethernet address : 00:60:08:a1:e4 pcib2 : <RCC host to PCI bridge> on motherboard pci3 : <PCI bus> on pcib2 pcib3 : <RCC host to PCI bridge> on motherboard pci4 : <PCI bus> on pcib3 <------------------------------------------------> ServerSet III HE-SL use following 3 chips. NB6576 : north bridge SB7440 : south bridge NB6555 : PCI bus bridge As you can see from above messages, ServerWorks chips are correctly detected. (vendor=1166) However, only 2 chips are detected. In addition, pcib1 is <RCC LE host to PCI bridge>. I suspect that FreeBSD detects HE-SL chipset as LE chipset that uses only 2 chips (NB6635 and IB6566). Does FreeBSD 4.1.1 detects ServerWorks III HE-SL chipset? If FreeBSD does not confuse HE-SL with LE, does FreeBSD really utilize full capacity of HE-SL chipset? Please help me with this. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. -James Kwon </PRE></BODY> </HTML> To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-hardware" in the body of the message
