As I replied to Ben, yes, in fact I do have NOMANCOMPRESS set to true in make.conf. Obviously this is a problem that needs to be solved, but it has received no attention, to the point of people telling me that I'm wrong, and that there is no problem at all. Ben is the first person kind enough to point out a related PR. If this is not going to be fixed, it would make sense to document the option as being broken. The ideal place for it right now is /etc/defaults/make.conf. Just add a warning that says that the user will need to modify the Makefile in /usr/src/secure/usr.bin/openssl to ensure that pod2man has an absolute pathname. Thoughts? -- Paul A.
