Meanwhile,   the  existing   linux_base  port   should  be   renamed  to
linux_base-6 and modified to test for  the OS version and declare itself
broken if  there is  no support  for the features  it uses.  The earlier
version should  be restored  under the default  name of  linux_base, for
that's  what will  work with  much  earlier releases.  That's my  humble
opinion.
