Hi, I've noticed some strange behaviour with snd_hda. My fairly new Intel board has two High Def sound devices onboard. One 82801I device and an ATI HDMI device. The 82801I device uses a Realtek ALC888 codec which snd_hda picks up fine. The ATI device uses an unknown codec. If snd_hda is enabled via loader.conf it assigns the 82801I pcm1 and the ATI pcm0. If snd_hda is loaded manually after bootup the pcm unit numbers get assigned in reverse. The annoying part is that if snd_hda is enabled via loader.conf the 82801I (pcm1) is unusable: # dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/dsp1 bs=64 count=100 pcm1:virtual:dsp1.vp0: play interrupt timeout, channel dead dd: /dev/dsp1: Invalid argument 65+0 records in 64+0 records out 4096 bytes transferred in 5.032943 secs (814 bytes/sec) The only way to get it working is to load snd_hda manually after bootup. This is on an Intel DG33BU board. I suspect this might trip more people up in future with HDMI adoption becoming popular now. Any ideas on a fix?
