A world map which allowed one to select a city (in a recent Red Hat installer). What made it cool what that it kept a red line connecting the pointer to the city nearest the pointer, so you could easily tell which city you would be selected by clicking. Of course, in this case it might have been good enough to just display the name of the city nearest the pointer, but that wouldn't have made me say "cool".
