I'm having a little trouble with linux_base-7 and the
linux-netscape4.7 port and I'm hoping someone might have some
suggestions.

I removed linux_base-6.1 and installed linux_base-7 from the
ports collection (my ultimate goal is to install staroffice6.0
and it looks as if it needs/requires the libXrender from the
linux_base-7 package). After installation of linux_base-7, I
tried running the linux version of the netscape web browser (also
installed from ports), however, it complained that it needed
libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2 and refused to start. I tried

(1) to symlink libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2 to the
libstdc++-3-libc6.2-2-2.10.0.so library

and

(2) to move the libstdc++-2-libc6.1-1-2.9.0.so library from the
linux_base-6.1 package to the linux_base-7 package

Both methods allowed netscape to start, however, netscape would not
resolve any DNS names. I think linux's resolver library is in
libc.so but I'm not sure how to setup two different libc's within
the linux_base-7 package.

I will be happy to provide any clarification. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

Please respond to me directly since I don't subscribe to this
list.

Thanks,
Mike
