This cannot be implemented as a flavour, otherwise correspondingly intrusive
changes to python.mk have to happen for no real benefit (compared to the
changes needed for 3.13 free-threaded/no-GIL mode). As an option, this woul=
d be
exposed in all existing supported interpreters in the tree, not just 3.11.

Still need to dig through the comments made in the existing phab review to =
see
if they are still relevant, especially pertaining to behaviour not already
addressed upstream.
