FYI; I just sent in (& received the following ACK for) a PR involving make in -STABLE. I could be pretty confused (it's happened before), but if I'm not, the symptoms involved could be pretty annoying [eliding non-critical material from the ACK]: >Date: Wed, 6 Dec 2000 08:30:01 -0800 (PST) >From: gnats-admin@FreeBSD.org >It has the internal identification `bin/23328'. >http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=23328 >>Category: bin >>Responsible: freebsd-bugs >>Synopsis: make forgets about some .SUFFIXES sometimes >>Arrival-Date: Wed Dec 06 08:30:01 PST 2000 (Known result is a failure to actually make certain (suffix-less, in all tested cases so far) targets under some conditions, with make claiming it doesn't know how to make the target(s) in question. Situation-specific circumventions appear to work OK, in that the previously-observed failure doesn't occur. What else might be affected, I don't know, but I would expect it to merely affect make's transformation rules (and make's perception thereof).)
