I was googling for it this afternoon and found references to acpi_video, but settting the video.lcd0.active sysctl to =0 would output "...lcd0.active: 1 -> 1" and consequently do nothing. LCD remains powered. Found users reporting this problem, but no solution to it. I'm running 5.3-BETA7 (cvsup'd yesteday). HTH, Thanks, - D.
