--------------Boundary-00=_CTF2G6G0000000000000 Content-Type: Text/Plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Hello everyone,=0D This is my first experience at FreeBSD and Alpha. I have been attempting= to install 5.1 but continue to flounder. Downloaded the CD images, burned t= hem and they appear correct. Upgraded the Alpha to version 7.xx of the SRM, thus I can boot to the floppy or cdrom. >>>boot dva0 or .>>>boot dka500 respectively. Problems I am encountering are: =0D =0D 1. The floppy disk mfsboot image when booted comes back with block 0 not boot blockkkkk, blah, blah.. tried to use fdimage.exe on windows, and al= so created an image from the dd command fron my Solaris box. Neither work.=20 Both give me the block 0 error.=0D =0D 2. Next I tried to boot the cdrom using the mini iso and the disk 1 iso, both boot, but then just cycle through the boot process over and over and over. I never get the menu choices of 1 - 5 after the message about hit enter and boot or press some other key to go to the prompt or whatever it says.... =0D =0D Any ideas why I just can't seem to grasp what seems to be straight forwar= d and easy defined? Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. One othe= r thing I noticed is that during the boot process for the cdrom, the hard d= isk seems to be getting checked. =0D =0D Danny --------------Boundary-00=_CTF2G6G0000000000000--
