The if_vx driver is located in /sys/pci/ and is present in the (final) 2.1.5
sources and GENERIC kernel.

Could it be that you got an early copy of 2.1.5? We botched the initial
release (it had a broken 3c509 driver, was missing the if_vx driver, etc)?
This would be the case if you got the bin distribution prior to July 17th.
