After discussions about the freeBSD mailing list recently I gather this might be a good place to ask this, but please redirect me if appropriate. I've been trying to get SFgate (www gateway to freeWAIS-sf) going under FreeBSD 2.2.5. It requires Wais.pm, and this is the point where I'm getting held up. I've fetched, patched and installed the sources for freeWAIS-2.1.2. I had problems with 2.2.10, so I used the earlier version which I had the patches for in ports I've got the Wais-2.304 perl module stuff from CPAN, and I've gone through the proceedures in the Wais.pm INSTALL file to create and make available wais.h and libwais.a Trying to install Wais.pm, the make runs cleanly, but the tests fail with Undefined symbol "_Soundex" in perl:./blib/arch/auto/Wais/Wais.so. Can someone give me a clue as to how to interpret this? What am I missing? bash# make test PERL_DL_NONLAZY=1 /usr/bin/perl -I./blib/arch -I./blib/lib -I/usr/local/lib/perl5/i386-freebsd/5.00404 -I/usr/local/lib/perl5 -e 'use Test::Harness qw(&runtests $verbose); $verbose=0; runtests @ARGV;' t/*.t t/a_preop...........ok t/basic.............Can't load './blib/arch/auto/Wais/Wais.so' for module Wais: Undefined symbol "_Soundex" in perl:./blib/arch/auto/Wais/Wais.so at /usr/local/lib/perl5/i386-freebsd/5.00404/DynaLoader.pm line 166.
