Cool. Any chance that this might get us closer to being able to build
the install chapter of the Handbook in HTML, but with plaintext
screenshots?
I'd really like to avoid having two documents that show "how to install
FreeBSD" (right now there's the install chapter of the Handbook and the
installation document in RELNOTESng). Maintaining two copies of
essentially the same thing is just asking for trouble.
We're now putting both TXT and HTML renderings of the release
documentation on the distribution media. This works so far because none
of these documents (including the installation guide) have any images.
However, we're severely space-constrained here...we'd have no room for
the PNG files that are typically generated for screenshots.
We could solve these problems if I could build the install chapter in
HTML and TXT (with no images) and drop them into the floppy, CDROM, and
FTP areas that get built during the release building process. Then (at
least for most platforms) I could nuke the installation guide in
RELNOTESng, which, at least from my viewpoint, would be a Good Thing
(TM).
Bruce.
