Unless my memory fails me, I seem to remember that mount *should* (and used to) make the difference between FFS (or any mountable) and swap partitions. Tonight, I mistakenly tried the following: mount /dev/sd2b /mnt I had mount reply 'bad dir info' something and WHAP! Panic. I tried it a second time and it suggested to me that I run fsck! Being in an evil mood, I did -- fsck just went ahead asking me questions as if all was normal. - Isn't mount supposed to tell the difference ? - Isn't fsck also ? -- Phil -- - [ regnauld@tetard.frmug.fr.net / +48.8N+2.3E / +33 1 4507 9391 / Sol 3 ] - - [ regnauld@freenix.fr / FreeBSD 2.x / ] - "Le schtroumpf est à l'homme ce que le bleu est au billard" - F.Berjon
