In if_xl.c at the very beginning of xl_attach() it looks like there is a leftover splimp(). Bill seems to have replaced all the others with a LOCK macro. Further down in xl_attach there is a LOCK macro so maybe we just have to remove that leftover splimp(). Trying that now.
