It's a common problem - KDE processes sometimes need about two minutes
to completely shut down. To avoid that problem just use .xinitrc macros
- It works fine. I like to use XTerm too, and I'm just autolaunching it
while I'm booting my X-Windows in same .xinitrc file. Refer to theese
manuals - xinit and startx . That manuals are all that you need here. By
the way - if you're assembling KDE from sources, try using gcc40 from
ports collection - edit your makefiles. It will add about 20% of
perfomance - I verified this fact on many different hardware
configurations. Perfomance increases from 15 to 20 percents, and it's a
permanent effect. Feel free to contact me if you'll have further
questions - I like KDE too ;)
