time cvs rdiff -rRELENG_2_1_0 bin >/dev/null without mfs 96.41 real 35.85 user 24.41 sys with mfs 70.14 real 35.62 user 24.44 sys Unfortunately cvs(1) use tmpnam(3), which always try /var/tmp (P_tmpdir from stdio.h). Nobody mount /var/tmp with mfs. Can we change P_tmpdir to "/tmp/" or use _PATH_TMP from paths.h in tmpnam(3)? /usr/include/stdio.h: /* System V/ANSI C; this is the wrong way to do this, do *not* use these. */ #ifndef _ANSI_SOURCE #define P_tmpdir "/var/tmp/" #endif Wolfram
