However, some people put swap first on the theory that the logical beginning of the disk is faster & they want swap to be quick. In fact, I think that may be why swap is traditionally second in a BSD layout. We could probably fix the loader to be able to read the partition table and figure out where / is, but I'm certainly not motivated to invest any time in making such a change.
