So the issue was fixed by doing the portupgrade, and the patches were
optional? Do i understand correctly that this pr can be closed?

As firefox 3.7a3 still ships with the same version of py-ply as 3.6.3 i
don't think we should diverge from what is shipped with firefox if there
is no need.
