It is easy to imagine systems that don't have any : clock harware and always get their time from the network. Maybe we need to have a port specific behavior man page and point people at them. That port speicfic man page could describe, in great detail that talks about the exact details of when the RTC clock is updated, etc. This could also talk about port specific boot proceedures, disk layout, and other issues that impact the port.
