I followed up there;  if you read the information already provided
you can see that iwm(4) is used.  I don't fully understand your other
reasoning as any code can be related to a kernel panic but with the high
amount of tuning the user is doing in all kinds of subsystems chances
are that the cause is elesewhere but not in (untuned) wireless.
